Terms of Service
Last updated August 28, 2026
These terms govern your use of Cookeville Local at cookevillescoop.com, including the directory, event calendar, forms, and related content published by Cookeville Scoop. By using the site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the site. Questions: email hello@cookevillescoop.com.
The service
Cookeville Local is a free community directory and local guide for Cookeville, Tennessee and the Upper Cumberland. Cookeville Scoop also publishes a twice-weekly newsletter. We may change, pause, or stop any part of the service at any time.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the site. If you use it on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these terms.
Using the site
You agree not to:
- Use the site in a way that breaks the law
- Submit false, defamatory, misleading, or infringing content
- Impersonate another person or organization
- Attempt to access non-public systems, accounts, or data
- Interfere with the site, including by overloading it or introducing malware
- Scrape or republish substantial portions of the directory or editorial content without permission (ordinary search-engine indexing is fine)
- Use the site to send spam
Accuracy of information
Hours, prices, events, school details, government summaries, job posts, and other facts on this site can be wrong or out of date. Confirm anything important with the business, venue, school, agency, or other official source before you rely on it.
Best Of lists and similar editorial pages are local recommendations, not paid placements unless they are labeled as advertising. Inclusion is not a guarantee that we tested every pick first-hand, and it is not an endorsement of every claim a business makes.
User submissions
If you submit an event, business, tip, correction, job, advertising inquiry, or other content:
- You grant Cookeville Scoop a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, edit, publish, and display that content on the site, in the newsletter, and in related promotional materials
- You represent that you have the right to submit it, and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge
- We may edit, decline, delay, or remove a submission for any reason
- Do not submit sensitive personal information about other people
Contact details you include so we can follow up are handled under the Privacy Policy. We do not publish your private email unless you ask us to.
Business listings and jobs
We may add, edit, or remove listings. A listing is not a guarantee of quality, licensing, insurance, or availability. Job posts are provided by the employer. Cookeville Scoop is not the employer and is not responsible for hiring decisions or the accuracy of a job post.
Advertising
Advertising on the site or in the newsletter is labeled. Pricing, dates, creative, and category exclusivity are set in a separate written confirmation. Filling out the advertising form is a request, not a booked campaign.
Cookies and advertising technologies
The site uses cookies, pixels, web beacons, and similar storage technologies, including the Meta Pixel, as described in the Privacy Policy. Those tools may collect information from this website and elsewhere on the internet so we and third parties, including Meta, can provide measurement services and target and deliver ads. You can opt out of ad targeting using the tools listed in the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
The site design, original writing, logos, and the compilation of the directory are owned by Cookeville Scoop or its licensors. You may share links and quote short excerpts with credit. You may not copy the directory, Best Of lists, or other substantial content for republication without permission.
Business names, logos, and photos remain the property of their owners.
Third-party content and links
The site links to other websites and may include information from public records, maps, and other sources. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COOKEVILLE SCOOP DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cookeville Scoop and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or these terms.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the site will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100). Some states do not allow certain limitations. In those states, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold harmless Cookeville Scoop from claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your submissions or your misuse of the site.
Termination
We may suspend or block access if you violate these terms. You may stop using the site at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict of law rules. Except where applicable law requires otherwise, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Putnam County, Tennessee.
Changes
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will change. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
