The Cookeville Performing Arts Center opens its 34th Backstage Series with Jonathan Troy's suspenseful comedy. Performances are at 7 PM on August 14, 15, 18, 20, 21, and 22, with 2 PM matinees August 15 and 16. Tickets are $15.

The Chicken Festival
Cookeville's first Chicken Festival runs from 10 AM to 4 PM with a wing competition, live music, local vendors, a kids zone, bounce houses, and a chicken scavenger hunt. Admission is $2 or a personal-care item, and kids enter free. Wing passes are sold separately.
Concert
Third Thursday Concert Series - August
The season finale of the city's free Third Thursday Concert Series at the Dogwood Performance Pavilion. A different band and music genre is showcased each month, May through August. The concert begins at 7:30 PM. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a relaxed evening of music in the park.

College Town Kickoff with Dustin Lynch
Tennessee Tech and Cookeville welcome students and the community with a free WestSide block party from 2 to 7 PM, followed by live music. Altitude Band and Dawson Anderson lead into a free 8 PM headlining concert by country star Dustin Lynch. The event ends at 10 PM.
